OutPaws Tails and Trails Event

OutPaws relies solely on donations to keep our doors open.  Simply put, the donations you raise allow us to provide vaccinations, spay and neuter and other medical treatments, as well as transportation from a shelter where euthanasia would have occurred for homeless dogs and cats. Thank you for helping us save more animals!

First things first - you need to register!

Click on the Registration tab on the left to Register now!

After registering, you can make your own Hike-a-Thon fundraising page

Our sponsor Highlands Animal Clinic will gift each registrant a pair of REI or Fox River hiking socks while supplies last!

You can register as an individual or as a team. Families can sign up as a team. Teams of 2-12 people are allowed this year. You can create a Team Webpage to reflect your teams fundraising goal. Teams also compete for their own set of sepcial grand prizes!

Anyone that loves the outdoors and hiking can participate! Young and old, brand new hikers or seasoned adventurers with 14'ers under their belts - we welcome all ages and skillsets!

OutPaws volunteers will be on hand for all hikes, however the hikes will not be guided. You will hike on your own.

Pick your own challenge:

(1) Hike all three planned hikes

(2) Hike the first hike

(3) Hike the last hike and Scavenger Hunt OR

(4) Create your own hike plan and tell your friends, family and co-workers about it on your own fundraising page.

Hiking Attire

Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and clothing, along with sunglasses and a hat and other sun protection. You may want to bring rain gear too- This is a rain or shine event and this is Colorado --so be prepared for any weather! Don't forget water!

Use social media, email, and personal conversations to ask your friends, co-workers, and family members to sponsor your hike(s).  We’ll give you templates, tools and lots of support!

It’s easy if you break it down -  to reach a personal fundraising goal of $250, you only need 10 friends to pledge $25!

Make it a team effort. Spread out the fundraising and have fun on the trails with all of your friends and pups!

People can sponsor you with a general donation or you can be sponsored per hike.

Many companies will match participation in cause-related events. Check with your employer and see if they will match a donation for your participation in Tails and Trails. Your company’s match will count toward your fundraising goal!

Fundraising Prizes

Our top overall fundraisers will take home great prizes to be announced soon.  Win prizes as you earn pledges!

Receive your Tails and Trails Participant T-shirt when you earn $50 in pledges after you register compliments of our sponsor Porchlight Realty Group - Sherry Suchoski.

Receive a Tails and Trails hoodie sweatshirt when you obtain $100 in pledges from our sponsors at Jack Nadel International.

When you hit $250 in pledges, you will receive an amazing stainless steel water bottle/bowl from our sponsors at Infinty Home Group and Hallmark Home Mortgage!

At $500 in pledges, you will receive a hydration backpack from Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers.

Prizes are awarded based on an individual’s earnings, not the team.  That way no one has to share!

Additional Tips for Raising Money

Don't forget to ask everyone you meet to support you in your hike-a-thon. Ask them for $10 or $20 - small amounts can make a difference! Ask not only your co-workers, family and friends, but your hair dresser or barber, your mail carrier, your kids' teachers, your clients, your baker, your favorite store owners and others you interact with regularly. See DoJiggy's Participant Fundraising Library for fundraising ideas and tips, sample letters, a detailed User Guide to the Participant Control Panel, and more!
